Astra, Kadence, and GeneratePress are the three names that come up most often when WordPress users look for a fast, flexible theme. All three are solid choices — but they aren’t identical.
Performance
GeneratePress has consistently been one of the smallest themes by default file size, which tends to translate into faster initial load times, especially on shared hosting.
Pricing model
GeneratePress Premium is a single yearly license that unlocks every module for unlimited sites — no separate add-ons to buy piecemeal.
Longevity and support
GeneratePress has been actively maintained for over a decade, with a small, focused team known for fast support responses and a conservative approach to adding bloat.
If your priority is a theme that stays fast as your site grows — rather than one that keeps adding features you’ll never use — GeneratePress is worth trying first.
